Our 9 Step Process

In India, obtaining a digital signature involves a standardized process governed by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Here’s a simplified process flow for obtaining a digital signature certificate (DSC) in India:

01

Choose a Certifying Authority (CA)

Select a trusted Certifying Authority licensed by the CCA to issue digital signature certificates. There are several CAs approved by the CCA in India.

02

Application Form Submission

Fill out the application form for the desired class of digital signature certificate. These classes range from Class 1 (basic verification) to Class 3 (higher verification).

03

Verification of Documents

Prepare and submit the necessary documents as per the CA’s requirements. This typically includes identity proof, address proof, and other relevant documents.

06

Generation of Key Pair:

Once the verification process is successfully completed, a cryptographic key pair (public key and private key) is generated. The private key is securely stored by the applicant.

05

Payment of Fees

Pay the prescribed fees for the issuance of the digital signature certificate. The fee structure may vary based on the type and class of certificate requested.

04

Identity Verification Process

Undergo the identity verification process conducted by the CA. This might involve in-person verification or verification through authorized agents or registered authorities.

07

Issuance of Digital Signature Certificate:

Upon successful verification and key pair generation, the CA issues the digital signature certificate to the applicant. This certificate contains the applicant’s details and public key.

08

Downloading/Installation of DSC

Download or receive the digital signature certificate along with instructions on how to install it onto the desired device (computer, USB token, or other hardware security modules).

09

Usage and Validity

Start using the digital signature certificate for signing electronic documents, online transactions, e-filing of documents (like income tax returns), e-tendering, and other relevant purposes. The validity period of the certificate can range from one to three years and needs renewal after expiration.

It’s essential to note that the process may vary slightly based on the specific Certifying Authority and the type of digital signature certificate required (individual, organization, etc.). Additionally, compliance with the CCA’s regulations and requirements is crucial throughout the entire process.

Applicants should carefully follow the guidelines provided by the chosen Certifying Authority to ensure a smooth and successful issuance of the digital signature certificate in India.
